What is a polyurethane fillet joint and what is its purpose in waterproofing?A polyurethane fillet joint is a specialized sealant or adhesive used in waterproofing applications. It is typically applied in the internal corners and joints where horizontal and vertical surfaces meet, creating a smooth and seamless transition. The primary purpose of a polyurethane fillet joint is to provide a flexible and watertight seal, preventing water infiltration and ensuring the integrity of the waterproofing system.
  • How is a polyurethane fillet joint applied?
How is a polyurethane fillet joint applied? The application of a polyurethane fillet joint involves several steps. First, the joint or corner should be properly cleaned and prepared, removing any loose debris or contaminants. Then, the polyurethane fillet joint is applied using a caulking gun or trowel, filling the joint completely to create a smooth, rounded profile. It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding application thickness and tooling techniques for optimal performance.
  • Is a polyurethane fillet joint compatible with other waterproofing materials?
Is a polyurethane fillet joint compatible with other waterproofing materials?Yes, polyurethane fillet joints are generally compatible with various waterproofing materials such as liquid membranes, sheet membranes, or coatings. They can be used in conjunction with these materials to enhance the overall waterproofing system's effectiveness and provide additional protection at critical junctions. However, it is advisable to check the specific product's compatibility with the intended waterproofing system and consult the manufacturer for any recommendations or limitations.
